The 'plants' were delivered yesterday and as materials for the campaign start to come togethe, we realise we are days away from a campaign that is considerably larger in scope than Prajnya is in size.
A preview on the left of the plants that will go out on Monday to five Cafe Coffee Day locations around Chennai (Anna Nagar, Ispahani Centre, Cenotaph Road, Indira Nagar and East Coast Road) and to Odyssey.
We invite anyone visiting these locations to tie a ribbon on the plants to remember someone who has been a victim of gender violence.
This idea is an adaptation of the 'Wreath of our Wrath' that the University of Illinois' Illini Union Board sets out between Thanksgiving and Christmas. (1996, 1998 reports). The wreaths fill up within days of their installation and we hope that Chennai-ites will end the silence around gender violence by tying ribbons on without hesitation.
"Ending the Silence" Message Boards will also be placed at these locations (and the Alsa Mall Coffee Day) inviting you to express yourself on this issue.
