Prajnya
is delighted to invite you to Songbird,
an
evening of music featuring Vedanth
Bharadwaj and Bindhu Malini Narayanaswamy on December 2. Combining
Carnatic and Hindustani musical traditions with Vedanth's guitar, the
duo will bring alive the works of Kabir, Mirabai, Namdev, Surdas, and
other mystic saints. The program will also feature rising talent
Aditya Srinivasan on the tabla.

About the artists:
Vedanth
has been pursuing music as a full time career for the last eight
years. With his unique style of singing Indian classical and folk
music and accompanying himself on his guitar, he has given concerts
all over India. His first album, Maati
Kahe,
is a compilation of songs from the Bhakti movement written by mystic
saints such as Kabir, Namdev, Mirabai, Tulasidas, Surdas,
Purandaradas and Gurunanak.
Bindhu
Malini is a trained classical Carnatic musician, who has learnt under
several eminent musicians. She is currently a disciple of Ustad Abdul
Rashid Khan, learning Hindustani classical in the Gwalior Gharana
Gayaki. She sings concerts in the contemporary style and has scored
music for many theatre productions. Vedanth
and Bindhu have a new album called 'Suno Bhai', with songs of Kabir.
Aditya
is one of the rising tabla players from Chennai. He was initiated into Carnatic
music and western piano at the age of 3. Aditya has performed with
top artists such as Shri Sriram Parasuram, Srimati Ranjani and
Gayatri, Srimati Manjusha Patil Kulkarni and many others.
