We did a tweet chat on the politics of consent, on November 27th 2017. It was facilitated by Radhika Bhalerao, our GRIT Research Fellow from the @prajnya account.
Here are some excerpts:
Consent is clear communication with regard to what is acceptable and desired by all parties involved. #Prajnya16d17 #nosgbv— Aashna Banerjee (@aashna_banerjee) November 27, 2017
Mainly, I think the right to #consent, knowing you have that right, knowing how to exercise it, and from others, an acknowledgment that it exists and is valid. #Prajnya16d17 #nosgbv— Swarna Rajagopalan (@swarraj) November 27, 2017
It's an enthusiastic 'YES', and not just a 'not no'. It's when everyone involved is excited about what they're doing, and not just doing because they have to.— Ragamalika (@rgmlk) November 27, 2017

There's the belief that women don't 'want' sex, or women shouldn't enjoy sex, or that if you're a good woman, you must be reluctant. That needs to change. We need to be sex positive, and therefore differentiate what is consent and what isn't.— Ragamalika (@rgmlk) November 27, 2017
It is not easy, especially when in the presence of power, or glamour. Saying yes is not acceptable, a no is not heard. One needs to train in consent in smaller things first and regularly. Consent must become a habit.— meetasengupta (@Meetasengupta) November 27, 2017
Here's a piece I wrote on talking #consent to very small children. Their bodies and theirs and we must respect this from the beginning. https://t.co/GLC3fKnNFA— Why Loiter? (@whyloiter) November 27, 2017
