A police constable and his friend were arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old girl working in a hookah parlour in Mumbai, police said today.
The accused police constable Dhananjay Madne, 23, attached with local arms' wing, and his friend Arshad Ali, 21, took the victim to a resort in Manori on October 3 and raped her, additional police commissioner, Ramrao Pawar said.
The duo had threatened the girl of dire consequences if she revealed anything to anyone.
However, a complained was lodged by the victim yesterday at the suburban Goregaon police station, Pawar said.
Subsequently, the two have been arrested on charges of rape and the case would be transferred to Gorai police station since the alleged crime took place in their jurisdiction, he added.
