2020, and our Tenth Campaign

Our tenth 16 Days Campaign opens in a year the likes of which most of us will never see again... hopefully!

When we closed the last campaign, we had also decided that it would be our last. Fundraising for the campaign is getting harder every year and the personal cost of substituting ourselves (our energy, our labour, our materials, our resources) for everything we might pay for was taking a heavy toll on the team.

But then, consider the world. Consider the world in this freakish year. Consider that we campaign and campaign and write and fight, but sexual and gender violence continue unabated.

How could we pull back? How could we sit back and say, sorry, we cannot engage with this? We cannot stop crafting the spaces where people can speak of the unspeakable. We cannot stop bringing together the information people need to speak and debate and resolve to change the world.

So here we are, for the tenth time. Every single time has been a surprise--we're doing this? we pulled off these events? that person agreed to speak/ perform/ attend? this really worked? we're still standing? Fools rush in and hope springs eternal, etc. Here we are.

This is the official season opening post, very late to appear, and say, we're in business, the campaign calendar is up, take a look

This is an all-digital campaign because of the pandemic. We have seven open events for which you can register, marked in yellow on the calendar. On other days, we have planned several information initiatives, with both new resources and reminders about old ones you may have missed or forgotten. We have a few by-invitation events as well. You can always email us to ask: prajnya.16days@gmail.com

See you around!
