In June 2019, the General Conference of the International Labour Organisation adopted C190 - Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190), a landmark for ensuring "the right of everyone to a world of work free from violence and harassment" (Article 4.1). Till date, only two countries have ratified this convention, Fiji and Uruguay.
In order to draw attention to this important new norm, we decided that on the second day of the 2020 Campaign, we would make it our focus. We drew in two other elements into this initiative--one was to highlight almost a decade of public education and compliance work on workplace sexual harassment and the other was to share glimpses of our recent webinar series on "Gender and the Changing World of Work."
